My name is Pam McGuire. I am 52 years old, married, mother of 6 and a grandmother to 4 beautiful granddaughters. I began 2013 in a size 14. That was two sizes bigger than I was two years prior. I was just about to start purchasing a size 16 and I was disgusted with myself. I no longer recognized the woman in the mirror. I had lost confidence in myself and I had developed a poor self image.
In March, I had abdominal pain. I started feeling so bad that I took out a life insurance policy on myself and booked an appointment with my family physician. After a lot of testing we discovered that I had developed a sensitivity to flour, sugar and soda. I managed to restrict my diet and pull out the foods that made me feel miserable. I did this for 6 weeks and I felt so much better. The problem was, it didn't help my weight issue.
This past Summer I saw Monica. She had undergone a huge transformation. She lost over 80 pounds. I didn't recognize her at first. She told me about her success with the Grace and Strength Lifestyle. I decided it was time to give it a try.
At the beginning of this journey my top weight was 180. The last time I weighed that much, I had just given birth to a baby.
I have felt so much support on this journey. Without my coach, I don't think I would have been very successful. Also, having the team support and the sense of community that this program has provided, has given me the insight and the tools I needed to be able to stay on protocol. It was very helpful to hear the stories of the others that had already been through what I was going through.
At the beginning Monica explained that I shouldn't feel hungry. If I ever felt hungry, I should immediately call her. I did feel hungry once or twice. When I called Monica she would help me determine what happened that caused the hunger. We found out that when I was short on sleep, I felt extremely hungry the following day. Now, I have been able to avoid the situations that make me want to binge. Also, I have learned what foods make me feel stronger and better and which foods make me feel horrible. Keeping that journal of what I was eating and how I felt each day helped me to get "scientific" about changing my eating habits.
I managed to reach my goal weight of 149 in just over two months. Now I am in size 6 jeans! I haven't been this size since I met my husband. I feel fantastic. If I had realized how easy this could be, I would have done it long before this.
I don't want to forget one very important facet of this program. It is actually the most significant part of this new Lifestyle. Following God and being obedient to God helped me to recognize the tricks and lies of the enemy. My greatest victory was not the weight loss and reaching my goal weight. The greatest victory was being able to freely speak about God's love, strength and miracles with a group of ladies that were on the same path. I can't tell you what it has meant to me to have this group of ladies to walk with.
