What do you say when you're told to "Give yourself permission to be ok..."?

A simple phrase that's easy to interpret and comprehend when heard or read, right? Of course it is. But go figure I'd be the one to sit and ponder this for hours...MANY HOURS! I was feeling so broken and hurt that I heard it but, I wasn't sure I was understanding the message in the words I was hearing. At this point I knew I needed to take a step back to ask God to show me what I was missing and help me fully understand exactly what "give myself permission to be ok" really meant for me during this season. It wasn't until I realized this wasn't intended for me to interpret, but rather words of great wisdom being spoken in to me to accept, embrace, understand, and act upon.

...you may not understand everything you are going through right now. But God does and He's in control.

God knew I was in a hurt and discombobulated state of being. He knew the devil was once again attempting to derail me and use this opportunity to take the final blow at destroying me as he attempted so many times before. God knew my typical reaction to this particular kind of pain and what it would take to get my attention. Just like me, you may not understand everything you are going through right now. But God does and He's in control.

Also reminded of Philippians 1:6 (NIV) "He who began a good work in you will carry it out on to completion", all I could do is drop my head into my hands and try to hide the uncontrollable tears streaming down my face. Then, like a flipped switch, I started agreeing and speaking out loud that I COULD do this!

One of the most important facts I have a firm grip on and believe is that God is Faithful. He has never failed to send those divine connections that stepped up to the calling on their lives and speak truth and wisdom in my most painful moments. I've looked back on my life and can see all of the scary things I have gone through. God has taken care of every single one of them...and me.. And He will with you, too.

What now? I'm "giving myself permission to be ok", surrendering it all to God as many times a day as necessary,  and reminding myself that no matter what the devil throws my way Philippians 1:6 was meant for me as well.

Our Lord Jesus is by your side. He sees all. He knows all. And best of all, He knows your heart.

I've realized that God is a great behind the scenes worker. It's during those quiet moments, when something is happening. No matter what your life entails, take comfort. Our Lord Jesus is by your side. He sees all. He knows all. And best of all, He knows your heart.

I encourage you all to give yourself permission to be ok. Give yourself permission to become victorious over what is holding you back...and always reach out to those who have your back in prayer.
