My kids have been asking for chocolate syrup lately but I am having a hard time finding any that doesn't have HFCS (high fructose corn syrup). I've added this to one more item we'll be making at home! This recipe worked well, was easy to make, and they like it! I used coconut sugar because it's the healthiest option for us. You can use this sauce on fruit, ice cream, in milk, or wherever you need a chocolate fix!
This recipe is for Phase 4 and beyond!
Easy, Clean-Eating Chocolate Sauce
- 1 cup coconut sugar
- 1/2 cup powdered cocoa
- dash of salt
- 1/2-1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1/2-1 cup water
Directions
- Add coconut sugar, cocoa, and salt to a saucepan.
- Add water (start with 1/2 cup, increase until you get the consistency you'd like).
- Whisk or stir briskly until it comes to a boil, then add vanilla.
- Decrease heat to low and allow to cook for 1-2 more minutes, then let cool.
Store this in the refrigerator until ready to use! It will last for about 3 weeks until you need to make a new batch.
