Fitting Fitness in a Busy Schedule

Fitting fitness into a busy schedule....seems impossible, right? ...WRONG!

Between work, school, kids, spouse, chores and errands...no wonder people say the number one reason for not getting exercise is because there is just no time. Unless you have a gym right around the corner from your house, most people just don't have the time to fit in a gym routine. This is understandable!

However, fitting fitness into a busy schedule can be easier than you think! What is the first thing you have to do, you ask? COMMIT! Make a commitment to your health and make the decision that fitness is important to your health and wellbeing! That was easy, right?!

Now, make goals! Make simple goals, such as doing 25 sit ups this week! They don't have to be super huge goals in the beginning! Each week after successful completion of goals....make BIGGER goals!

We've all heard the typical, "Park far away from your car so you are forced to walk further and use the stairs!" These are great tips....however, you're going to need a little more than that!!

A few suggestions that I've heard and done myself:

* Before using the restroom, do 10 squats!

* Turn coffee and lunch breaks into walking breaks. A brisk walk around a building can do so much for stress after sitting at a desk all morning!

* During TV commercials (because, lets face it....your not giving up TV for fitness...we're realistic!) do push ups, squats, sit ups or climb stairs a few times.

* Download a fitness app onto your smart phone. There are apps that can prompt you with simple routines (no equipment necessary) such as push ups, squats, lunges, crunches, jumping jacks, etc...

* Find ways to work in fitness into your daily routine. Such as dance while vacuuming, play tag with the kids instead of video games, etc...

* Gyms are wonderful places if you have the time. For stay at home moms, look for gyms with childcare. Allowing you to have "mommy" time while your kiddo can have fun "kid" time. It can be really worth the expense if you continue to go!

What are some ways that you incorporate fitness into your busy schedule?! Leave us a comment...
