So I had an unexpected trip to prepare for, out of the country and for an indefinite amount of time. Oh goodness I thought, I will begin this trip with a 1300 mile road trip to a place where the weather is A LOT cooler, and the dress will be VERY casual (aka...workout clothes) then 2 weeks into the trip I will fly out to a get-to-together which will require formal attire, then fly back to the casual cooler country and after an indefinite amount of time hit the road for another 1300 mile return road trip home. You probably already know how difficult it is to maintain a healthy diet during travel and vacation.
My point in sharing this with you is, AM I prepared for VICTORY during this short season in my life?
What I didn't share with you yet is that throughout this season while I am away, I am required to be on a VERY STRICT DIET!!!!
NO grains
NO SUGARS
NO dairy
NO artificial anything
NO processed foods
Hmmm I thought, this is going to be interesting!!! Packing the temperate clothes I need for the trip is not that hard BUT the food stuff, yikes!! I'm going to be on the road for two 12 hour days, I'm going to a place where I miss and LOVE their food. It is a season that will lend itself the opportunity for emotional eating.
You know what happens then, every comfort food you can think of miracously appears in front of you. I'm not in my own home to prepare the meals. I'll be where people want to feed you because that's their love language!! But, at the end of the day the choice is mine to make....will I be prepared for VICTORY?
It can be extremely difficult to maintain a nutritious eating plan and diet during travel and vacation. Preparation is always key. The picture above is the contents of my cooler that I packed for the first day on the road.
It didn't take that long to boil some organic eggs, grill some chicken, cut up some organic fruits and vegetables. I loaded the cooler full of water bottles (packed two extra cases in the trunk) and as I get low on fresh food I'll stop and refresh my supply of healthy choices.
Now don't get me wrong, my flesh wants to say and DO...."I'll just wait until I get home to do this diet, what's one more month or I'll just have some of my favorite foods while traveling or surely those amazing looking homemade croutons on the organic chicken salad won't hurt me?
WRONG THOUGHTS AND HARMFUL RESULTS not only to my health physically but my health spiritually and emotionally!!!
You see the WORD clearly says in 1Corinthians 10:13 "No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it."
So for me to 'give in' to any crazy thoughts that Re tempting me I am giving in to something that God has ALREADY PREPARED a way out for me.
The enemy of destruction comes to lie, kill, steal and destroy. He wants us to feel defeated so we will start the vicious cycle ALL over again (every Monday). He wants to condemn us, and make us feel guilty and shame and less then.
BUT, you know what??? He is a BIG FAT LYER!!!!
1 John 4:4 tells us "You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is GREATER than the one who is in the world."
Jesus came to SAVE us through our salvation we are FREE from all condemnation, all fear,all lies, all guilt, all shame....don't give the enemy ANY power over you....
YOU have the greater one in YOU and in HIM you are PREPARED for VICTORY!!! You can maintain a healthy diet during travel and vacation!
