Peace.
Such a strong word.
No matter what angle you're coming from, it means the same thing, but has so many different levels of gravity to settle in.
Peace. What does it mean to you? Are you familiar with it? Is there is peace in your home? Is there peace in your life at all? Or does peace resemble a circular symbol you saw in the 60's a time or two...maybe a hand gesture that has completely lost its meaning?
Sadly enough, peace is something that may be a rare occurrence to some. For others, peace is a tool unto which we measure our every thought, our every move, our every emotion. I can whole heartedly say that peace has led me to the place I know God has planned me to be, and mostly because the peace I receive, comes from God. Some people say, trust your gut. Some people say, do what's right, but at the end of the day, not everyone has the same idea about what is right....but God does.
Those feelings of intuition don't come from a fictitious place in your mind, they come from God. And as a child of God, I feel it is our duty as children of the light to shed it and not be shy of what the Lord wants us to do.
It's not always easy to channel in and receive a message so directly that it inspires us to take action.
But if we just listen, and I don't mean with our ears, but with our hearts, God will always lead us to what we are called to do.
It's all about being able read what my mother, Mrs. Cyndi Benson, and I, like to call our "peace meter". Everything we do, everything we see, everything we hear, everything we think about gives us a certain feeling. Whether you choose to tune in and acknowledge it or not is up to you, but it's there.
For example; have you every been about to do something deep down you know you shouldn't? Your heart starts pounding, your mouth gets dry, your mind starts racing about all the possible outcomes that may play out and your palms even start to sweat just THINKING about whatever it is you thought about doing? That's your peace meter going haywire in the red zone. As much as we like to use the excuse of; "I didn't know what I was doing", or "I didn't know it would turn out like this"...if we had read our peace meters to begin with...(you know, that tiny little check in our gut that we ignored for the sake of a thrill)...we could have avoided any negative repercussion that might possibly develop from our lack of better judgment that was given to us generously by his grace, yet so simply overlooked from lack of recognition.
Sometimes, we don't get the luxury of the physical symptoms to tell us when we're doing wrong. Sometimes, it's just an inkling, a flash, a moment, a check, if you will. So if you get it, follow it. It's there for a reason.
Our "peace meter" will just as much let us know when we're doing wrong, as when we're doing right. Ever notice how some of the simplest things that we do can bring us such joy? Whether it's letting someone cut in line, making a non-expected phone call, or even going out of your way to get something done for yourself or even someone else. When you get that warm, positive "yes" feeling...go with it! It is most definitely there for a reason as well.
So now that I've explained exactly what a "peace meter" is, I encourage you to use it. Not just on the tough stuff, but through all of it. If you're someone who has never experienced real peace in your life, I encourage you even more. If you begin to tune in and use your "peace meter" in all aspects of your life, you'll develop a peace from within, the peace of God, that will resonate throughout your life, just as HE intended it to.
