I saw a post on Facebook yesterday by a young woman concerning her soul mates addiction to energy drinks. She like so many of us knows that these things aren't good for the body. The damage they do to our kidneys, pancreas, livers, and adrenal glands can be devastating and in some cases, fatal. The sugar surge, then subsequent crash creates an endless repeat cycle that is hard to break free.
You cannot move faster through life, you can only move closer to death, by the choices you make."
We have been set up! We have been programmed, over time, that if there are 24 hours in the day, we need to work or play in at least 27 of them or we are failures. In this lifestyle, we find ourselves living in a "pre-zombie" state, shuffling from appointment to appointment, guzzling energy drinks and chanting mindlessly "must keep going!" If only there was a way to stop the madness! If there was a way to get our lives back in order. Where we work and play during the day and sleep a worry free sleep at night knowing that we did all we could do today and tomorrows another day!
Are your commitments bringing you closer to God or closer to death?
Commitment is doing a thing long after you've felt what you felt when you said you were going to do it. It is what transforms a promise into a reality. This is what we are lacking in our lives today. We say we are committed to living a healthy lifestyle once a year whether we need it or not. We say we are going to eat right, exercise, and get adequate sleep every night, yet, we find ourselves burning the candle at both ends and not accomplishing anything but a quick demise.
One of the MANY life-giving, life affirming gifts of the Grace and Strength Lifestyle is a defined, livable sense and understanding of commitment. Grace and Strength shows you not only how to commit to living a healthy active productive life, but it also shows you just exactly how much GOD is and has committed to you since before you were born.(Jeremiah 29:11) If we stop and think
about that kind of commitment, what does it say about our level of commitment to God? To ourselves? To be so committed that you lay aside everything and everyone to pursue one thing.
What is the ninth word in the middle paragraph?
We spend countless hours devoted to our appetites, whether it be for food, work, career, family, sports, etc. But how much time are we committing to God? To His temple, our bodies? Are we ignoring our health and well-being and giving up longevity and an abundant life, all for the few minutes or hours a favorite pass time or meal provides?
Going back to the beginning of this post, a young man with an addiction to energy drinks. He has no energy, he drinks energy, he has energy, he crashes and has no energy and has to repeat the process over and over. This wears and tears on his body and its ability to provide itself with its God-given energy derived from eating the right kind of foods, getting the right amount of sleep and devoting time everyday to exercise and to God.
Grace and Strength IS not a diet plan. It IS a LIFESTYLE that helps you find your spiritual, emotional and physical balance. It helps you discover the discipline of excellence. You become who God dreams you to be. The key to this is allowing yourself to give yourself permission to let go and let God do within you what you have not been able to do within your own power. We feel we have to understand, and comprehend every little detail. We forget that we are spiritual beings. What we cannot understand in the physical, we must allow God to show us in the spiritual. The ONLY way we will ever be able to overcome ourselves, is to live a Proverbs 3:5 life. "Trust in the Lord with ALL your heart. Lean NOT on your OWN understanding. In ALL your ways ACKNOWLEDGE HIM and HE will direct your path." The ONLY way we will ever be able to overcome ourselves, is to live a Proverbs 3:5 life
You oughta be committed! THAT' my friends IS The GRACE AND STRENGTH LIFESTYLE!
