There are times I find myself being told to go somewhere. Most of us have experienced a colorful more than tropical travel suggestion from an upset person, but that is not where I am talking about.
I am talking about when God tells you or provides an undeniable sign that you are to go to a certain place and do such and such. There are multiple examples of God telling someone to go somewhere in the Bible. Before His triumphant entry into Jerusalem, Jesus told his disciples to go to a specific man and get a donkey for him to ride into the city. God told Lot to leave Gomorrah before He destroyed it for its sinful not niceties...So God is the ultimate travel agent. He sends people here and there and they go and they do and oh the things he has them do!
I guess the greatest of these was Jonah. He was the son of Amittai and God told him to go to Nineveh and preach repentance. Nineveh was the Capital of the Assyrian Empire, one of Israel's fiercest enemies. It was also known for its wickedness. (Bad people having fun doing bad things in the eyes of the Lord) So instead of packing and going and doing as God told him, Jonah booked passage on a boat to Tarshish, in the opposite direction of Nineveh. God sent a storm, storm made sailors fear, they cast lots, they threw Joe over the side of the boat, Joe meets whale, you know the story. (If you don't look in the book of Jonah...I ain't your bible.) Jonah spent 3 days in that whale before getting tossed like a cookie and repenting. He went, he preached that in 40 days the city would be destroyed. They heard, they repented. After going through all that, Jonah was still angry with God because he spared Israels mortal enemies. God got right back in Jonah's face because Jonah was more concerned about Israel than he was for the 120,000 people that were lost and needed God. God sent Jonah not because He wanted Jonah to see the world, but because he wanted the world to see God.
Many of us have started or are considering starting this journey called the Grace and Strength Lifestyle. We aren't sure we should or even can do it because it is out of our comfort food zone. Consider this, maybe, just maybe, it's not just about you getting healthy. Maybe God wants you to go on this journey, get healthy, get closer to Him because there is someone in your life or whom you will meet that needs to see the transformation of who you are into who God dreams them to be. Maybe, just maybe, your obedience to go on this journey is the catalyst that will not only save your life, but, will save the life of someone who's destiny is far greater and without your obedience, they may never realize or achieve it. It's not always about you, but about your obedience.
