Erin's Story
I began the Grace and Strength Lifestyle program in April just following my 40th Birthday. The 9 months before I started the program were a challenge. My children were having troubles, and I had lost all focus on my health and well-being. I was never in an emotionally healthy state with food (more obsessive compulsive). I had a tendency of maintaining my weight with a binge and purge method. When I couldn't obsess because my heart and mind were focused on my children, my weight spiraled out of control (100% binge all the time). In 9 months I gained 40+ lbs.
Maybe it was part of God's plan or maybe it was an attack from the enemy ... I can't be sure, but what I do know is that God led me to Grace and Strength and has been there supporting me every step of the way.
He has taught me so much about my relationship with food and how I had made it an Idol in my life. I now lean on God in times of need and turn to the word when I'm having a bad day. I crave time with Jesus and no longer crave food and wine. Reading the bible used to be a chore and eating was a source of pleasure and by the Grace of God, that has been totally flipped upside down and now Eating is a chore and has a proper place in my heart and my hunger for God and his word is my source of strength for the day.
I am so thankful for Jillynn, and her patience with me as I uncovered my issues with food. My body is a temple, devoted to God. Fellowship is a time of laughter and love, not eating and drinking and honestly I couldn't be happier. The enemy can no longer take away the joy of time with friends and family for me. I no longer feel guilty because I'm able to be in the word, honor my body with real food, instead of lying to myself that I need to be like everyone else. I want to be a light that shines ... not lost in the crowd.
I love Grace and Strength Lifestyle for the peace it has given me.
