Food was my comfort except, it did not comfort me. My journey with Grace and Strength began early January 2016. I had put on 45 pounds since the death of my 43 year old daughter in a tragic motorcycle accident. Food was my comfort except it did not comfort me. I had been on a program similar to this 2 or 3 years ago but I was looking for something more. The spiritual part was missing in my previous weight loss and I knew that the spiritual was all a part of the whole.
While browsing the Internet for weight loss plans that included spiritual programs, I came across Grace and Strength. I listened to the presentation, with prayer and conversations with myself I decided to give Cyndi a call. She was so gracious to call me on the weekend and my journey began in early February with Coach Monica. I have to say I could not have been paired with a more wonderful, tell it like it is, yet caring and patient coach. Overall my journey has been fairly uncomplicated. I was going through the loss of my daughter and the Bible lessons fit right in with my food "problems" and my grief.
I have learned so much about myself, boundaries and seasons of life on this journey. What my journey looks like may not be the same for you. Have I had problems? YES! I have wanted to "throw in the towel" a couple of times but Coach Monica and Coach Anna have been there to pick me up and show me that I could do this!
"Coach Monica and Coach Anna have been there to pick me up"
Would I recommend this to someone else? YES and YES. God has wonderful lessons for us that He teaches us through our weakness. It is in our weakness that He makes us strong if we look to Him. Oh, I almost quit recently because of all the stress in my life; but after talking with Coach Anna (she is so kind and has such a heart for us) I decided to stand firm and finish. I only had a few more weeks to finish and become Alumni. So, here I am, almost at the end of this journey but still working toward my final destination which for all of us will end when we meet our Heavenly Father one day. Then our "real" journey, and what a wonderful one that will be, will begin.
