In today's story, we're excited to show you a unique interview with a recent graduate. This video is unique because Nita was also interviewed at the beginning of her weight loss journey, so you'll get to see a portion of that interview along with her graduation interview. The transformation is truly remarkable! Thank you Nita for sharing your story with all of us!
Nita's Story
I am so thankful to have found Grace and Strength Lifestyle through my friend Monica Hemming and the encouragement of my daughter, Sarah. I am 54 and never lost my "baby fat" from my 28 year old daughter….oh, I've been successful in losing 30 or even 40 pounds but then, like most people, I gained it back. This is where G & S is different. By the grace of our Lord, and His mercy and guidance, this program teaches you about food and how it affects our bodies…why we shouldn't eat fast food all the time (in the beginning of that whole era, I thought they made it like I would at home…just faster…LOL) not thinking about the additives, preservative's and all the stuff that inches up our weight gain. I can still eat out but am making much healthier choices now.
Also, I never considered myself an emotional eater because I thought that meant if I was depressed or sad but MY emotional eating was good! I have lots of happy memories around cooking and the kitchen. THAT is emotional eating too!! Now I will adjust my recipes to be healthier and still have those good memories and laughter in my kitchen. I feel so much better inside: I have so much more energy, I can roughhouse and play with my grandchildren for more than 2 minutes, I sleep better and there are so many things that "feel" better in my body.
I tell my friends that the weight loss is a bonus to the program: the bible studies each week with my new found family have been just amazing. I have a renewed relationship with my Lord and for that I am eternally grateful to them.
Coach Monica is a wonderful teacher and really challenges us and makes us accountable through love. I know that the other ladies in my group are praying for me each week and I pray for them as well…what a sisterhood! I have always longed to be a part of group like this and I found it! Praise God! As the old hymn goes: but CHRIST made the difference for me!
