Never Quit! Just because you strike out doesn't mean the game is over.

Do you ever find yourself in a season of life where you feel like you're never going to get it right? You try time and time again, and will even have some success for a time period, but then you blow it, you mess up and just want to throw in the towel!

It reminds me of when I was younger and I used to play little league softball. My daddy would practice with me outside in our backyard. He used to tell me to 'choke up on the bat,' and then he would toss the ball towards me. My small, three and a half foot frame would twirl around in a circle from the momentum of the bat as I would swing, aiming for the ball with limited success. As I grew older, the skill of making contact with the ball grew as I was became a decent little softball player. However, no matter how much I improved there would still be times where I would strike out.

In my frustration, I would trudge back into the dugout disappointed, but I knew the game did not rise and fall on my one out. You see, the game wasn't over. We've all struck out a time or two, but the game isn't over.

Maybe you've become weary from the game. You've struck out one too many times and it just feels like the game is a total loss.

Philippians 3:13-14 says...; 'one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.'

When it comes to a healthy lifestyle, we often beat ourselves up due to a slip up or possibly a rough weekend. We try and try to make new habits, establish new disciplines, but we just can't seem to get it right. Today, we will surrender our efforts to the only one Jesus, who will give us strength to get back up and not quit. It is in our weakness His strength is made perfect and will empower us to keep going.

Today may just be the 7th inning stretch and it's time to wipe our brow and get back out on the field.

Don't quit! Just because you have struck out, the game isn't over.
