Are there Cracks in your Foundation?

Your Why and Accountability

Have you ever been in a situation where you were excited and committed to a new goal and at one point you actually thought NOTHING could ever deter you from accomplishing that goal? But then, out of NOWHERE, you were faced with an unexpected circumstance that caused you to set your goal aside for the moment and join in with what was going on around you?

We've all been there. You just started your new meal plan and you're excited about it! You even brought your lunch to the office with you and stuck it in the fridge when you got to work. But TODAY your boss surprises you and offers to take the staff out on the company and you can order whatever you want! ...Are you serious???

Over the last few weeks we've been talking about the importance of having a solid foundation in Christ in order to achieve what we ultimately want to achieve in our lives, whether it be in the area of health and fitness, our marriages, families, etc. Moments like the one described above threaten to put cracks in our foundations, and even though they seem insignificant in the moment; over time those "cracks" add up and our foundation can crumble. When making a decision whether great or small, there is always a driving force behind why we are choosing this change. When it comes to any decision we are about to make, it is important to ask the question of "WHY". "Why" is this change so important? "WHY" am I committed to this change? What is the driving force behind the change?

The answer to this question of "WHY" will give clarity to the decision that is about to be made. However, having a "WHY is often not enough, it is the STRENGTH behind the "WHY" that will help you to make the right decision at the right time. The enemy LOVES to try and sidetrack us from our original "WHY". He knows that when there is success in this area of your life you will be a force to be reckoned with for the kingdom of God.

True change will only happen if you are committed to that decision. And having a strong "WHY" will help you stay committed to accomplishing that goal. Your "WHY" will influence your decisions and allow you to overcome any unforeseen circumstances that might pop up to throw you off. This is the next step in our foundation building that will serve as the "glue" to hold our foundation together so we can withstand the enemy's desire to make us crumble and stand strong.
