The Woman In The Mirror
Have you ever taken a few minutes and stared into the mirror and truly looked at yourself?
Now, I’m not talking about looking at yourself while you are doing your makeup or getting ready in the morning, I mean, really examine yourself? Who is it that you see in the mirror? I remember when my coach asked me to do this little exercise. At first it seemed harmless enough, but the more I thought about doing it the more anxious I felt. I didn’t want to ask myself the question of “who do I see when I look in the mirror?”
I knew who I was supposed to see…but who I truly believed I was was a completely different person. I remember having to wrestle with this verse in Ephesians that says, “For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago. (Ephesians 2:10)”
A masterpiece? Really?? I wanted to believe this truth, but I struggled with the notion that this verse was only true for others. What I had to realize was our loving Father was calling me into something so much deeper with Him. Maybe you’re struggling with the woman you see in the mirror. You need to know that He calls us His. He bought us with His blood and now we are radiant daughters of His. You see, it isn’t “Who I think I am” It’s “Whose I am” that makes me beautiful.
~Oh Lord, I want to see myself like you see me, but so much of who I believe I am does not match who YOU say I am.
Breathe fresh into me the truth of being YOURS.
May I know that I am beautiful today…not when I’m 25 or 100 pounds less…but because YOU love me and call me your work of art.
